Romania 2023

We are so excited to be back working internationally! This August we are collaborating with Cardiff University and our in country partners in Romania to deliver sport and play in marginalised communities.

WAles at play

We are proud to be working on a local initiative which will empower children and young people in South Wales. Young people have access to sport and play sessions that enable them to build confidence, make new friends and feel a part of their communities.

“ I was looking to collaborate with an organisation who understood the challenges and difficulties marginalised young people often faced, yet were able to deliver activities through an approach which promoted confidence, self-esteem, and social connectedness. I knew that World at Play’s ethos and values fit perfectly with the framework on which this programme was based- which was confirmed through the increased happiness, joy, and growth young people reported after attending an 8-week programme” Testimonial from Jen Thomas, Doctoral Researcher, Cardiff Met University

RAISE CHESS ACADEMY

During the pandemic one of our volunteers, Mayele Josh, began a chess project, utilising the skills he learned through his time with World at Play, bringing together and educating young people in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda

“At RCA children are not only playing chess but also gaining educational support, leadership support and also making sure there is equality and inclusiveness. We are looking at children from the project or academy having the opportunity to play, have fun and also access inclusive and equal access to quality education as well.”
