World at Play's 2019 International Project sees 9 international volunteers be fully trained by World at Play to deliver sport and play sessions in orphanages, care homes, Roma communities, homes for those with disabilities, and refugee camps and settlements. The team will do this in Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Croatia . You can follow their blogs and read the project summary and outcomes below.

Kosovo

After completing their training at Atlantic College in Wales, the team start to use what they have learned to change lives in Kosovo.

Bulgaria

After their time working with GAIA in Kosovo, the team went on to deliver sessions in refugee camps and centres for those with disabilities. Find out how they spread joy here

Romania

Having spent time with refugees in Bulgaria, the team went on to work within Roma communities in Bucharest and Castelu. Find out how they got on partnering with Reality Check and Policy Centre for Roma and minorities here

WHAT Do our teams look like?

If you’re thinking about applying for next years project we look for:

A diverse team with a passion for play and an enthusiasm for our mission. They must be:

  • Looking for a challenge and willing and ready to adapt to new circumstances

  • Enthusiastic and flexible

  • Resilient and calm under pressure

  • A team player, with experience of working in a team

  • 18 + with an interest in working with marginalised communities

  • Passionate about making a difference. Some experience or knowledge of working/volunteering with children and young people is welcomed
